Meet Ivy Haywood
My grandmother, Ivy Haywood, was the inspiration for the name IHEI. She was born in Trinidad and Tobago on October 15th, 1913.

"Mama", as we called her, or "Teacher Ivy" to the community, was a single mother of 7 surviving children having given birth to 11 children. Though she raised her family with very limited resources, she instilled the values of knowing the Lord Jesus and the empowerment of education to enrich their lives.

Today, her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren who live in the United States of America are successful in many different professions and hold Bachelors, Masters and Doctorate degrees.

Sponsors of the IHEI programs include her four daughters, who are now senior citizens in our communities, Lynda Wright, Selma Wiggins, Glenda Lewis, and Jemma Collins (pictured below).
