The sudden crisis of COVID-19 resulted in a shutdown of all schools on March 20, 2020. As well, Kampala and surrounding villages were mandated to uphold a strict Shelter in Place protocol.

Many of our families headed by single mothers were unable to earn their daily income and access food. IHEI successfully implemented an Emergency Food Relief Program which funded and distributed food and hygiene supplies to 38 families living in Kampala.

Relief packages included local staples including: rice, sugar, beans, posho, and a bar of soap for sanitary needs. In addition, we were able to provide many of our families with loaves of bread which has become a luxury during this time.

IHEI-UGANDA COVID-19 Emergency Food Relief Project gives thanks to our generous sponsors and supporters. Special applause to our local team leaders, Tendo Brenda who led this project for her dedicated service.
